Authored by Dr. Sandra M. Estanek, this article provides a history of the founding and maturation of the Association for Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASACCU)

It is the story of a group of lay and ordained student affairs professionals from Catholic colleges and universities who were inspired by the vision of Gaudium et spes and Ex corde Ecclesiae to take the initiative to create a community of practice among their peers. In 2014, ASACCU celebrated its fifteenth anniversary as a national organization. Utilizing archival material and interviews with the founders, this article provides a history of ASACCU’s founding and first ten years.
